This new category is starting to get closer to its first race with creator Chris Lambden targeting a 5 weekend championship (similar to the TRS in NZ) starting in January 2018.

As a F5000 fan, I can still remember the great sights and sounds (real chest vibrations) in the late 60's and 70's when they contested the Tasman series. I wonder if the original F5000s (Chevy) would be able to compete with the new Swift FT5000s (Ford Coyote).

In the future Chris thinks it may be possible to have a Trans Tasman championship, but he wants to get the cars racing only in Australia first.
