Bathurst chit chat '20
Credit to Supercars for getting to this point in the championship.
Early weather forecasts include a little bit of rain across the weekend. With McLaughlin having the title sown up, it will be all about going for the win. With the current aero package, passing will be difficult. Track position and fuel economy will be very important to contribute to the win. Particularly for the Victorian teams, having spent months on the road now, a mechanical failure is more likely this year than years gone by. With this in mind, the team that makes the fewest mistakes is most likely to be best positioned at the end of the day. Looking forward to enjoying the great race.

Re: Bathurst chit chat '20
Should be a great weekend with the disappointment being the lousy crowd allowed while the horse racing and football codes pack them in.As usual the powers that be consider motorsport fans as second rate citizens .Perhaps they should look more closely at horse racing where young women are often falling down drunk while their yobbo males indulge in behaviour you would never see on the mountain.Anyway we know who we are and will support the Great Race even if it is from a distance.

Well put,sprintman..the only sort of "yobbo" behaviour that ever took place on the mountain,in my experience of having camped there for a few years, was two vehicles blown up at the top of the mountain (one being a new BMW in Ford/Holden territory;the other an ice cream van left there overnight),the "legendary" nudie run at the top of the camp ground we stayed in,never saw it myself and of course the burning of all the old lounges that were carted to the mountain camp grounds. The last year we were there, someone decided to set fire to the huge industrial sized skip bin full of rubbish, that one did bring out the local fire brigade to put it out.
Bring on the Mountain,I will be parked in front of the telly watching.

I must admit I cannot quite fathom why such a small crowd is allowed into such a large area and a much larger crowds are permitted to occupy far smaller venues. Like my tips, it does not make much sense.

Re: Bathurst chit chat '20 (Quote)
Many years ago I raced sprintcars at the Sydney Showground ,Parramatta,Liverpool etc.(Someone for Rush and Briton to run over).A group of us from those days meet at a club for lunch each month to lie how good we were.Yesterday we were asked to leave because there were more than 10 of us.I asked the manager why were allowed to stay each month for the whole pandemic but hunted now.He rattled it's the law even though we always sit at different tables.I told him he lacked common sense amongst other things, and went to another club that let us in ,sat us at separate tables etc etc.Common sense! That night I blew up watching the news when watching the horse race draw there were the toffs sipping Champers, all standing together,no social distancing and no worry about consequences in spite of TV cameras.Once again it is not about the virus,it is about social standing (money) as has been showing in QLD where the wealthy can travel from Victoria's hotspots but we cannot. There will be 40,000 at the League in Sydney on the weekend but only 4000 at Bathurst because we are not part of the ELITE.The economy of Bathurst is going to be belted by these disgraceful decisions. |

The important news at the moment is that the race start has been brought forward to 11am local time.
Holdsworth topped qualifying, with a little shower preventing cars from having their last run. But with late afternoon rain forecast, qualifying could favour the first couple of runners. Maybe... Sunday forecasts is now 8-15mm of rain, morning and afternoon. That will be a wet race.

van Gisbergen & Tander are 2020 Bathurst champions!
Track position was king for the race, passing was very hard to do. The finals stints from all the leaders was excellent. van Gisbergen and Waters were pushing their cars incredibly hard. The consistent fast lap times they were able to knock out was amazing. Big losers of the day was Jamie Whincup and BJR. Whincup pushed too hard and took a huge risk that wasn't needed. Nothing went right for BJR.
