Truck Assist TEKNO Racing Newcastle Review
Truck Assist TEKNO Racing driver Jack Le Brocq rounded out season 2019 with a solid drive to 17th in the second race of the Newcastle 500, after an all-night rebuild following Saturday drama.

"It was a good reward today for the guys on the team to bring the car home nice and straight, they put in a massive effort overnight to get the show back on the road," said Le Brocq.

"It kind of sums up our season never give up.

"Yesterday was a shame, we've had a great run this season keeping the car nice and straight, so it was disappointing to have a DNF.

"A big thanks goes out to all of the crew, our sponsors and supporters for the year."

The event opened with a pair of 30-minute-long practice sessions on Friday, with Le Brocq registering the 24th and 22nd fastest times in the respective runs.

Kicking off Saturday was a 20-minute qualifying session, which saw Le Brocq set the 19th best lap time.

The opening race however was a short-lived affair for the squad; after surviving the opening lap skirmish with some damage, contact from James Golding saw Le Brocq backed hard into the wall.

The car was driven back to the pits where it was retired with front, back and roof damage, necessitation repairs that took until 2:30am to complete.

In the final qualifying session of the year, Le Brocq set the 23rd fastest lap.

From the race start, Le Brocq settled into 21st position, before climbing up into the lead when he pitted under safety car on lap 25.

Avoiding the double stacking seen throughout the pit lane, Le Brocq restarted in 16th, before once again running long to position number five on lap 55 of 93 when he took his second service.

Picking off cars in the run to the line, Le Brocq was eventually classified in 17th.

In the final season standings, Le Brocq finished in 22nd position, with the 2020 Supercars season set to commence on the streets of Adelaide from February 20-23.
