Le Brocq takes first career win in thrilling Sydney finale
Supercheap Auto Racing driver Jack Le Brocq (No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang) has taken his first career Supercars win in Race 12 at the Truck Assist Sydney SuperSprint, following a thrilling battle to the end of the race. It is the 73rd win in the history of Tickford Racing (including Rod Nash Racing), and the team's third podium of the 2020 Virgin Australia Supercars season. Le Brocq had saved both of his Dunlop soft tyre sets for the weekend finale, giving him the optimal tyre performance across the 32-lap race and positioning him to take his maiden victory in the main game.

In Race 11 earlier on Sunday, James Courtney (No. 44 Boost Mobile Ford Mustang) came within 0.02s of the podium, using both of his soft tyre sets in Race 11 to claim fourth place, his best finish of the 2020 season to date.

Cameron Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) followed up last night's sixth place finish with ninth in Race 11, but having used the best of his tyre allocation, managed his car across Race 12 en route to 18th at the chequered flag.

After using both sets of his Dunlop Soft tyres in his runner-up effort in Race 10, Lee Holdsworth (No. 5 Truck Assist Ford Mustang) knew a challenging Sunday was ahead, the Truck Assist Racing driver recording finishes of 19th and 15th in Races 11 and 12, and sits eighth in the championship after four events.

Supercars returns to action August 8-9 and 15-16 with back to back weekends at Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin.

"To be honest we should probably be reasonably happy with 15th, because plenty of guys still had a lot of softs left to throw at it today, so we probably did the best we could today. The first race I was a little bit disappointed, but we ended up with a good bundle of points for the weekend. Great to get a podium last night, and awesome to see Jack bring home the win for the team."

"It's a bit of a lucky dip with the way the tyre strategy plays out. For us, we tried to spread our good tyres across the three races, and we just didn't have enough for the last race. Personally I didn't really like the tyre rules this weekend, but it's the same for everyone so we tried to make the most of it, tried to roll the dice, and unfortunately it didn't go our way."

"The first race was awesome today, just got pipped at the line which was frustrating, but it was good racing. It was fun, we pitted quite early and pushed on. I lost the rears a little bit at the end. The last race was pretty crazy, I think I got into it with someone at the start and lost a heap of positions, but it's fine. The tyre strategy mixed up the racing quite a bit, we'll have the engineers go back and look at it and figure out which is the best way to go about it strategically, but it's been a successful weekend for our team. Lee was second, Jack won, I should have gotten a third but came fourth, and Cam was solid all weekend. Hopefully we turned on a good show for the fans."

"I'm at a loss for words. Man, those last few laps were tough, I was just hanging on, trying to stay smooth, not slide the car too much, and just look after the tyres. I had a moment with, like, three laps to go and thought I was in trouble, but gathered it up and brought it home. Massive thanks to everyone at Tickford and Supercheap Auto Racing who made this happen. We swallowed a couple tough results in the first two races to have a proper go at the last race, and it paid off. Absolutely stoked."

"We're so happy for Jack, he's had to learn a lot in a short time here and was certainly up against it to make those tyres last to the end. He did a great job and thoroughly deserves it. James had a great first race today as well, and was so close to getting a snowboard himself. The tyre strategies this weekend made for some really wild results, which is what we expected, and hopefully it was as entertaining for the fans as it was nail biting for us!"

Should Supercars change the kerb strike technology?
