IMAR returns to track, partnering Tickford Racing
Specialist insurance provider IMAR will return to Bathurst this weekend, having partnered with Tickford Racing ahead of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, in a partnership that will see the IMAR brand placed on the front guards of the No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang driven by Cameron Waters and Will Davison.
IMAR is a familiar name in the Tickford Racing garage, having had a steady presence in 2019 and the beginning of 2020 as an associate partner of 23Red Racing, whose entry was driven by Davison until the 2020 season was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Melinda O'Connor, Head of Partnering and Business Development at IMAR/Gallagher, is looking forward to seeing the "Tradie's Mate" back in action on Mount Panorama.
"We are delighted to partner with Tickford for the Bathurst event in 2020. Tickford Racing has a strong history of success and Bathurst is such an iconic Australian motor sport event," She continued. "Whilst many things have changed this year, our commitment to motor sport remains and we're excited it has taken shape in the support of Tickford, Cam and Will in Car 6 at Bathurst."
"IMAR has been supporting Tradies for over 35 years," O'Connor added, "and over this time we've learnt the passion for motorsport runs deep on the Australian work site and we're excited to be partnering with a team that has such a strong tradie supporter base. Just like the importance of having a high performing pit crew to minimise the risks on track, IMAR Insurance makes sure tradies all around Australia have the correct cover so they can get on with the job with confidence."
Tickford Racing CEO Tim Edwards has welcomed IMAR back to Supercars, and formally into the Tickford Racing stable.
"We have been well acquainted with the people at IMAR for a while now, having worked with and around each other at various points in 2019, and we're very happy to officially bring them on board as we get ready for Bathurst." Edwards said. "Although the situation with 23Red in May was unfortunate, we're glad to have them back on track for the biggest race of our year to close out 2020."
IMAR will also have brand placement on Davison's helmet as he chases a third Bathurst 1000 win, co-driving with Waters, who won Supercars' most recent race at The Bend Motorsport Park.
"A relationship like this is very useful for IMAR's business, our championship has a very strong following of people in the tradesman industry, both at an individual and business level. To bring IMAR on board ahead of our crown jewel event, which will be watched by millions across Australia, is a great way to expose their business to potential partners and customers."
On-track action for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 begins Thursday, with the 161-lap race scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. AEDT, Sunday October 18.
