Waters' Monster lap earns Bathurst 1000 pole
With a qualifying and Top Ten Shootout lap record of 2m03.56s, Cameron Waters (No. 6 Monster Energy Ford Mustang) has earned pole position for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. The result is Waters' fifth career pole and first at Mount Panorama, his lap achieved in Bathurst's famed Top Ten Shootout after qualifying fourth in Friday's group qualifying. It is the sixth time Tickford Racing has scored pole at the Mountain, and is officially the second consecutive year the team has done so.

After claiming provisional pole on Friday in mixed conditions, Lee Holdsworth (No. 5 Truck Assist Ford Mustang) qualified sixth in the Top Ten Shootout, giving he and co-driver Michael Caruso a strong starting position for Sunday's race.

A day after qualifying ninth in Friday's group qualifying, James Courtney (No. 44 Boost Mobile Ford Mustang) posted the eighth fastest lap in the Saturday Shootout, citing a balance that didn't "hook up" as he had hoped in the overcast and cool conditions on Mount Panorama.

Jack Le Brocq (No. 55 Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang) qualified 15th in Friday's qualifying session, and spent Saturday's practice sessions focused on dialling in their race set up. Le Brocq and co-driver James Moffat are optimistic they can move forward to be in contention late in Sunday's race.

Following a 20-minute warm up session at 8:40 a.m. AEDT Sunday morning, teams will finish preparation for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, which begins at 11:00.

"We couldn't quite get the car to grip up in the Shootout, but fifth is okay. Our one-lap pace definitely felt top five, but I think our race car's quite good. My little mate Carus has been awesome all week, so we feel ready to go for the big race. People have won from fifth before, and we certainly feel like we can win from there tomorrow."

"That was absolutely awesome. I knew the car had something special in it, but I just had to put it all together. This is so special for all the boys at Tickford, they've earned their piece over this whole period we've been away (from home). This will go towards beers Sunday night, doesn't matter how we go tomorrow, but hopefully it's a good one...That was absolutely unreal, I made a few little mistakes but the car was just hooked up. The boys have done such an awesome job to give me something like that. Absolutely awesome, and this bloke's (Will Davison) been awesome to be with this weekend."

"Eighth was okay for us. Obviously when you go early in the Shootout you want to move up, but we struggled to unlock the one-lap speed in the Shootout so I couldn't do much with it. On the positive side I'm pretty happy with our race car, Broc had a great co-driver session as well, so I'm confident we're thereabouts, which is all you can ask for heading into this race. We'll wind it up tomorrow and see what the Mountain has in store for us."

"With no Shootout for us today was all about getting the race car tuned up, and I think we did a good job finding some more speed from it. Obviously tomorrow's a long race so we'll try to play smart and chip away through the day, Moff's been on it from the very first lap which will be really handy for us, and yeah, we'll just aim to work our way forward and set ourselves up for the end. You can win from anywhere on the grid here, so we'll see how we go."

"What a lap, absolutely brilliant. Cam and Will have been tremendous all week, and Cam put it all on the line and earned that one. To be honest, you look at the names at the top of the time sheet, you don't just beat those guys by four tenths, and that's just as much down to the work of the team as it is the skill of the driver. Obviously it's been a very strong week for us, but tomorrow's when it matters. We believe we have four cars very capable of running at the front, and if we can put it together and have a little good luck, there's every chance we can be there at the end."
