TeamVodafone front row in Townsville for Race 16

Jamie Whincup took his 8th pole position for 2010 and will start alongside teammate Craig Lowndes for Race 16 this afternoon. Whincup set the fastest lap of the weekend with a 1:12.7275, some .2820 head of Lowndes. "I'm really happy," said Whincup "We're in good shape for today, we're confident. I thought we had a great car yesterday, but it is even better today. "And we'll have a TeamVodafone drag race to the first corner – I hope I don't blow the start like I did yesterday!" The last time Whincup had pole for both races was back in Bahrain earlier this year and that weekend he won both races, can anyone stop the Vodafone driver today? We'll find out in a few hours time. Yesterday's second place man Garth Tander will start from 3rd with narrow championship points leader James Courtney starting from 4th. Earlier today in a hearing with the stewards, Courtney escaped a 10 point penalty after contact with teammate Steven Johnson in yesterday's race. Jason Bright qualifying 5th and will looking for a positive race following a over heating issue caused by a racked cylinder head. Hard charger from yesterdays race, Jason Richards, improved his qualifying results and will start 8th.
