GET SET FOR CLIPSAL
The countdown clock now shows it is less than three weeks till
the V8's roar back into action around the concrete lined streets
in the Adelaide Parklands. Teams are revealing their battle
paint for the coming season, announcing their endurance drivers
and trumpeting how new recruits behind the scenes will take
them to the front of the field in 2009. The V8 Daily Dump will
continue to keep you up to date with all these announcements
and all other news up to Clipsal and beyond.
Far away from the track, Team Kiwi continue
to struggle. Team owner David John has been in court in the
past week with proceedings demanding he be declared bankrupt.
He has been declared bankrupt, however the team don't see
this as an issue for them declaring it is business as usual.
The team has announced they plan on running a Paul Morris
Motorsport built VE Commodore in 2009.
Elsewhere, teams are gearing up for the first
test days of the year. For Victorian based teams, they will
all hit the track at Winton on the 9th of March. Some teams
will debut their new chassis the week prior, giving the cars
a chance to prove they are ready for the rigour of V8 racing.
Queensland teams will test on the 11th of March at Queensland
raceway. The public is encouraged to attend both test days,
with a gold coin donation for entry with all proceeds going
to Victorian bushfire relief and Queensland flood relief.
A season launch will be held at Melbourne's
Federation Square on March 4th, open to the public between
4-6pm. All drivers will attend the event with several cars
to be on show.
Our season previews for which teams and drivers
to keep an eye for 2009 and what to expect will be up soon,
keeping you across changes to teams and where the new teams
may run.
So get excited. Make sure you've got your
seat ready, whether it be at the track or your favourite spot
on the couch. The V8 season is coming.
Keep
visiting the V8 Daily Dump for all the news.

V8 Daily Dump's most dedicated
fan!
Kenny, better known as wrongwaynorris
in our forum; reproduces a V8 Daily Dump sticker
for his Falcon (above). Within 24 hours of sending
Kenny the high resolution image, he sent us the
finished product on his car! If that's not a dedicated
fan we don't know what is. Kenny also received the
popular vote by our members in the forum,
he now carries the 'V8 Daily Dump Threadster of
the Year 2008' title. |

V8
Daily Dump joins two members over a common interest.
Not only does the V8 Daily
Dump provide a place online for all things V8 Supercars,
but has become the birth for people with common
interests to meet 'offline'.
It had to happen sooner or later. The meeting of
2 motor racing legends (in their lunchtimes), 2
of motorsport's trivia (not trivial) kings, 2 absolute
grass root fanatics who would rather not answer
the call of nature, than miss a single lap of a
Formula Vee race at a club meeting. One firmly in
the Blue corner, the other a rabbid Red man!
And so finally on a cool and wet Friday afternoon
on February 13, (we aren't superstitious), I, Elfin
(Bill) met Wrong Way Norris (Ken) for a few quiet
beers, and a lot of reminiscing at a tavern in Campbelltown,
SW Sydney, close to our beloved Oran Park. I was
in Sydney very briefly to pick up a new visa for
my new job in China, and WWN had just returned from
a business trip up the coast.
We talked and talked about so many things from the
"Golden Years"-Tasman Cup, touring cars,
modern day BS-you name it! But after only a few
hours of responsible drinking, it was time for WNN
to drive me back to my lodgings.
You could not find a nicer bloke to have a few quiet
ones with than Ken. He is so knowledgeable and has
so many and varied experiences in motorsport, that
a couple of hours together went way too quickly!
It won't be our last meeting for sure, and I know
I have a mate for life in Ken. I am truly envious
of all from the V8
Daily Dump who will get together at Bathurst
and other race meetings, and share a few cold ones
with some friendly banter- I hope I can join you
one day!
Cheers,
Elfin. |

Billy endorses V8DD with
new T-Shirt
Billy Montgomery from Warnbro
WA, put out the call a few weeks back, for a V8
Daily Dump T-Shirt. As Billy is a avid V8DD
supporter, we sent one along. When the T-Shirt arrived,
we found out that Billy lost his job, so the timing
of a new T-Shirt from V8DD couldn't have been better.

Favourite Drivers: Marcos Ambrose, Mark Winterbottom,
Craig Lowndes, Jamie Whincup, Glen Seton
FavouriteTeam: FPR, 888, SBR
Interests: Hi Everyone, my DD code is Devil Racer
so you can put a face to the name. I love my V8s
and have been a Ford man all of my life. I am married
with a 3 year old daughter called Bella who also loves
the V8s. |
 |
Her favorite driver is Frosty and she got to meet him
last year at Symmons Plains (this was very exciting!!!)
Whenever we watch the telecast she sits on the lounge
and tells me every time she sees Frosty on the TV which
is very cute, but it can get a little repetitive especially
on a Bathurst weekend.
I was first introduced to motor racing at a young age
and have loved it since. I first went to Bathurst in
1987 and will never forget it (the year of the rain
and the Texaco Sierras). I love most forms of motorsports,
and have obviously taken a much greater interest in
the Nascar series since Ambrose moved across. Apart
from the wife and daughter, my pride and joy would have
to be my 2003 BA XR6 Falcon 5 years on and has
not skipped a beat.
My other interests include Cricket, Rugby Union, Rugby
League, a bit of AFL and of course a nice drop of red
or two.
